Student Checkouts @ the Library

Abish, grade 11, checked out Katrino Leno's novel Horrid. Her dad heard it being read on First Chapter Friday and was interested, so they're both going to read it!

Yasir, grade 10, checked out Jason Reynold's For Every One: "I read books by Jason Reynolds in middle school and I actually liked reading those books. They showed me how the world could be and how it could be made better."

Check out Goodreads to see what readers think of Reynold's book!

Mathematics Madness!

There's more to math than your 75 minute class--and some of it is even fun! Click on the graphics below for more info.

Breaking Math is a podcast that aims to make math accessible to everyone, and make it enjoyable. Every other week, topics such as chaos theory, forbidden formulas, and more will be covered in detail. If you have 45 or so minutes to spare, you're almost guaranteed to learn something new!

Math Mutation is a podcast for people of all ages where the hosts discuss fun, interesting, or just plain weird corners of mathematics that you don't hear about in school.

On The Math Dude podcast, host Dr. Jason Marshall provides clear explanations of math terms and principles, and his simple tricks for solving basic algebra problems will have even the most mathphobic looking forward to working out whatever math problem comes their way.

BONUS: Ready to replace that bulky graphing calculator? Put Graphing Calculator + Math on your Android device or try Graphing Calculator X84 if you're an Apple fan. No more AA batteries to replace!

Not quite over Valentine's Day? Browse the library's list of recommended love stories! And if romance isn't your thing, you can check out some alternatives here.
