January Newsletter

Whatever your New Year's resolution, we have a book (in print, audio, or electronic form!) to help you fulfill it.

Not the resolution-making kind? Check out 2021's best YA fiction and nonfiction before you dive into this year's great reads! (Just scroll down the home page a little bit.)

Order Yourself a Surprise

Over the winter break, Ms. Masters sent some students and faculty home with mini-libraries of books selected just for them. One of Mrs. Doupe's books was Lab Girl, by Hope Jahren, about which she said:

Thank you! This was SO good. My geek-self was just as satisfied as my literary-self and it was such an honest read!

If you would like Ms. Masters to select a grab bag of books tailored to your interests, place your order today! You'll receive an email as soon as your bag is ready for pickup.

Borrow a Digital Book

The North High library has thousands of digital and audio books in its collection, which means you don't even need to leave the couch to find your next great read. Download the Sora app or visit SoraApp.com. When it asks you to find your school, you want to look for Torrance Unified School District, NOT North High. Use your regular school username and password to log in and get downloading! For further help, check out this tutorial on the library's blog.

COVID Update

We love that the library is such a popular place to gather, but in order to help slow the spread of the latest COVID variant, we will temporarily be closed to foot traffic during lunch. Don't panic! You can ask your librarian questions and pick up books for class at the textbook window with no advance order or appointment required. If you'd like an independent reading book, you can check out our digital offerings or order a print book for pickup. We will continue to be open as usual before school, after school, and at break, and hope to be back to this year's "normal" after semester 1 finals.

Reminders:

Follow us!

@NorthHighLibrary only needs 70 more followers in order for us to celebrate with hot chocolate and apple cider for all! Why do we care if you follow us on Instagram or TikTok? Well, for one thing it's kinda fun. But the library also uses social media to communicate things you might like to know, such as library closures and special events. We are also looking for great social media content. If you think you can make the library go viral, email Ms. Masters your idea at masters.caitlin@tusd.org!

Give a Gift!

The library isn't just about books. It's also about exploring, creating, collaborating, and socializing. Help us expand our offerings to support the library's mission with a gift from our wish list on Amazon!

Get Help!

Feel like you might need a little extra boost in your pre-finals study routine? CSF is here for you! You can drop by for after school tutoring (room K1) or make an appointment to meet with a tutor one on one.
