Banned Books Week
October 5-11 is a celebration of your freedom to read whatever you choose. Stories let us see new perspectives, imagine different lives, and connect across differences. But every year, people you’ve never met try to take that choice away by banning books from schools and libraries. This week shines a spotlight on those attempts at censorship—and reminds us to defend our right to read, think, and decide for ourselves.
Learn more about Banned Books Week on the American Library Association’s website or in the North High Library!

Saxons Recommend
Last month, Ms. Gorsich enjoyed Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer.
“I literally laughed out loud!” she says. “It has a beautifully, wonderfully awkward female main character. Oh, and I bought the other two books in the series.”
Mrs. Gorsich has even left a delightful surprise in the book for the next lucky reader. Drop by the library and check it out today!
Saxons Celebrate
Hispanic Heritage Month continues until October 15. Visit the library or browse our website for books by and about people of Hispanic and Latine heritage.
As the days grow shorter and the nights darker, snuggle up with a spooky story—find recommendations in the library or on our website!
Library Closures
The library's normal operating hours are before school, at break, at lunch, and after school. The library is closed to students during class time. This month, we are aware of the following additional closures:
10/1: Closed all day
10/7, 10/17, 10/24, 10/29: Open at lunch for printing and book checkout only
Week of 10/28: We’ll be closed on and off all week, due to Kashiwa’s visit
Unfortunately, we sometimes have to close the library unexpectedly and without warning. We apologize for the inconvenience and remind you that there are computers and a printer for your use in the College and Career Center (K1).

After school tutoring is in the library 3:30-4:30 P.M. Monday-Thursday. It's free and there's no appointment needed--just drop by!
