It's been a long, hard year-and-a-half, but the Saxon community is back on campus and better than ever! This year is more of a fresh start than a normal new school year. You can reinvent yourself a bit for all the people who haven't seen you since March 2020. You can incorporate into your regular routine the lockdown habits that worked for you and ditch the ones that didn't. Knowing how challenging the last 18 months have been for everyone, you can make it a point to be a kinder, gentler person with the people you meet on campus and beyond.
If you need some inspiration, drop by the library or visit our website to check out some of our back-to-school-books. We have fiction featuring characters returning to campus, as well as a ton of new nonfiction covering all the stuff your teachers never talk about in class.
In addition to checking out books, you can also use our computers and printers (both b&w and color), work on a puzzle, charge your phone, talk to the librarian, study with a friend, play a board game, or just sit on a couch and listen to music on your AirPods. Drop by today and see what's up at the North High Library!
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by recognizing the contributions of Hispanic and Latino people to the United States, and celebrating those people whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
Find books by and about people of Hispanic and Latino heritage in the library or on our website, and join North's Hispanic Culture Club for the following activities:
Painting: Enjoy art from Hispanic and Latino creators and then make some paintings of your own! In the library at lunch on Friday, September 24.
Papel picado: Learn how to cut paper into beautiful designs that make perfect decorations. In the library at lunch on Friday, October 1.
Loteria: Play a round of this bingo-style game and win a prize! In the library at lunch on Friday, October 8.
