Reading Grab Bags
The library is going to be closed quite a lot during April and May, but you can still get your book fix! Order a mini-library of books chosen just for you by Ms. Masters and they'll be delivered straight to you in class!
Library Closures
Because of special events and AP testing, the library will be closed part or all of many days in the upcoming weeks. Please see those dates below so that you can plan ahead and please pay attention to signage in front of the library, which will clearly announce when it is closed.
Even when you can't come in the library, we can usually help you at the textbook window. Don't be afraid to stop and ring the bell! And remember that computers and a printer are available in the College & Career Center (room K1).
4/8: Completely closed at lunch for Student Council meeting
4/8-12: Open for quick business only during Celebration of the Arts. This means you can use the computers and printer, and check books in and out, but the tables and chairs won't be available for hanging out. Tutoring will happen after school as usual.
5/3-17: The library will mostly be closed during this time due to AP testing. If signs say "closed," please do not come in. You can void the test of every person in the room if you enter. That means a lot of angry Saxons!
Clear Your Library Record Now!
The week after Spring Break, Celebration of the Arts kicks off North's end-of-year festivities. If you still have books or fees from the 22/23 school year or before, you won't be able to purchase tickets to many of these exciting events--or even pick up your yearbook.
Please review your library record and start to take care of this task now, before you miss out on any of the fun!
Ms. Masters doesn't just check out books! Last month, she kept a log of how much of a typical week she spent on all of her other jobs. You can see all of the results in the pie chart below, but this month let's focus on:
Assisting & supervising students: Includes helping Saxons print, giving writing and research advice, maintaining a quiet study space in the library during lunch, and matching up books to readers who need a new title
Emails & scheduling: Includes reading and responding to emails from teachers, students, and parents; and putting events on the library calendar
Facilities: Includes putting furniture back where it belongs, cleaning up trash, vacuuming, making small repairs, submitting work orders for larger repairs, and attempting to troubleshoot technology issues
